Sponsored Skydive

September, 2023

On 23rd September 2023, at Hinton in the Hedges Airfield, members of Grand Union Lodge, together with wives and friends, took to the air to raise funds in support of two highly deserving young men.

One of the beneficiaries was Max Judge, a 21-year-old local lad and keen sportsman, who had his right leg amputated at the hip to prevent the spread of cancer. Following his recovery, Max required a highly advanced prosthetic leg, costing in the region of £90,000. The local community rallied with a number of fundraising initiatives, and we are delighted to see the target achieved. Grand Union Lodge 9641 was proud to support the appeal with a skydive contribution of £5,000. The skydive also raised funds for the Lodge's ongoing Tommy Fleming Appeal. Tommy has lived with Wolf Hirschhorn syndrome since birth and is extremely disabled as a result. Funds raised by the Lodge have continued to support Tommy and his family, including improvements to the outdoor courtyards at the PACE Centre in Aylesbury to assist with wheelchair access. Proceeds from our skydive were used to provide Tommy with a Lycra suit to help improve his posture and also contributed towards specialist treatment provided by GAZE, which aims to improve his vision.

A special thank you and congratulations to Bro. Wayne Hancock, Bro. Andy Ellis, Bro. Robbie Smith, Bro. Jack Pacey, Bro. Sam Wright, and Bro. James Tait, along with his wife Lucy and children Olivia and Cameron, for their bravery in taking to the skies. We also extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed so generously to support this successful fundraising effort.
